ABOUT US

We are the Eagle Crest Men's Golf Club (ECMGC), the official men's golf club at Eagle Crest Resort in Redmond, Oregon. This resort sports three wonderful golf courses two championship courses, the Resort and Ridge, as well as the (par 63) Challenge course formerly known as the Mid-Iron Course. The ECMGC plays all three in weekly rotation on Wednesday of each week. Members are not required to reside at the resort; however, most of our members live here and hold the unlimited annual pass for play on the three courses throughout the year (including winter if no snow covers the ground).

How to Sign-up and Play, How to Join:

Anyone with an active GHIN number may play in our weekly Wednesday golf rounds. If you are visiting Eagle Crest and would like to join us on Men's Day , simply email Reed Sloss or Mike Bessonette with the date or dates you would like to play and your GHIN number. You will be allowed to play on a space available basis. Your cost to play will be the regular $10 weekly prize fund and $5 guest fees. Existing, local members signup by responding PLAYING to invitation emails sent out through use of Eagle Crest Golf s licensed copy of the web based USGA Tournament Management system (aka Golf Genius). We play a variety of different games on Men's Day as listed on our round schedule posted on this website. Our annual membership fee in 2024 of $50 is required to join the EC Men's Golf Club. To Join, download and complete and finally submit the member application to the Ridge Proshop or click on Contact for additional information.

Handicaps:

As a USGA/OGA sanctioned golf club, ECMGC provides opportunities to establish or renew golfer GHIN handicaps thru the EC proshop. Interested golfers can fill out an application and submit that form with the annual fee as noted on the application at the Ridge Proshop front desk. The club's Membership committee will work with golfers new to the sport in establishing their handicap.

Men's Day:

Wednesday golf normally is setup with early morning tee times although shotgun starts are common for major tournaments and events. Golfers check-in with tournament directors at least 30 minutes before their tee time. Each golfer pays a $10 contribution to the kitty and receives a golf cart assignment. We are a social / competitive club so Wednesday games are typically 4-man or partner competitions with varying pairing setups so golfers get to play with a different set of partners throughout the season.  Games for each Wednesday are listed on our annual season's round schedule; descriptions of games are posted under Competitions. We do run some individual, flighted games on Wednesday as well. All winnings from the collected kitty are paid out to an average 40% of the field in credits toward merchandise in the proshop (including $10 each to the low gross and low net individual that day). We are an amateur golf club. NOTE that annual pass holders receive a 10% discount on all merchandise purchased thru the proshop. In addition, practically any club, bag, rangefinder, etc. can be ordered through EC Golf. All scores are posted by the tournament directors and results are typically emailed to the entire men's club roster later that day.

Preferred Tees:

Each golfer can play any tee position on any course they find comfortable for their game. The World Golf Handicap System allows fair competition between players teeing off from different positions. Golfers new to the ECMGC should provide tournament managers their preferred tees for each course so that information can be stored in Golf Genius database. Golfers can change these preferred tee settings any time throughout the golf season.

Member Privileges

ECMGC members are able to compete in the club's four major summer tournaments as well as home & home (H&H) events (although non-members may be used to backfill H&H events when empty spots exist). Information such as walking versus riding preference, preferred tees on our three courses, round counts and those with active hole-in-one insurance are listed for all on this website under Member Information.

Major Tournaments and Events:

ECMGC holds four tournaments during the spring, summer and fall months: Eagle Crest Cup, Match Play, Club Championship and the Fall Classic. These events are described in detail in the Competitions section. Entry fees for these tournaments are higher, but so are payouts. Every odd year, the club hosts a mixer with the Eagle Crest Women's Golf League, typically in the spring (the ECWGG runs the event in even years). Finally, the EC Men's Golf Club holds home & home events with the men's clubs from the Juniper and Crooked River Ranch Golf courses as well as with the West Ridge Men's Golf group. H&H s are setup such that each club plays at the other's course either early or later in the summer. Competitions pit 2-man best ball matches between each club for points, the winner of which gets to keep a coveted trophy for its own trophy case. Entry fees are typically $35 - $20 (includes $10 for prizes) plus $15 for a nice lunch if offered.

NOTE: members qualify for entry into the Eagle Crest Cup, Match Play and Club Championship by participating in at least five regular rounds during the previous calendar year going back from the week of the major tournament being played. Regular rounds include all rounds hosted by ECMGC excluding rounds in the four major tournaments. Members who support ECMGC by playing five or more regular rounds are referred to as Regular Members .

Hole-In-One Insurance:

In the words of Bob Hocker, an ECMGC member of long standing who ran this program for years:

Welcome new members and present members who might be interested in protecting themselves from that one time shot that could cost you mucho $ s paying for that Hole-In-One we all strive for. The cost for insurance is $15 and will cover your bar tab celebrating the shot.

Any Hole-In-One made by an insured member during a Men's Day event will pay for one beer, wine or pop for all that day s players who are also paid members of the fund. Once the current fund runs dry, 4 or 5 Aces in one year by our members will probably deplete it, a new Insurance Policy will be started and everyone who desires the insurance will pony up $15. Last year we only had one Ace scored but you never know .one year we had 5.

If you want the insurance, hunt down our Members Administrator Reed Sloss

Resort Cup:

Four golf clubs within central Oregon (including ours) compete for a large trophy the Resort Cup . Scheduled for the most part on the first or second Monday each month through June (Eagle Crest), July (Black Butte Ranch), August (Widgi Creek) and September (Sunriver Resort), men's clubs send 10 golfers plus a pro to compete for stableford points in one of three flights: Pro, A-Flight (five each with handicap indexes < 14) and B-Flight (five with handicap indexes >= 14). Points are accumulated though the four rounds; the club with the highest point total wins the Resort Cup. Green fees are $55 plus $5 for prize money (i.e. $5 only for Eagle Crest AM annual pass holders playing in June). The top three finishers in A & B flight earn proshop credits at the course played. For more details click here, or contact ECMGC's Resort Cup Captain, Greg Middlebrook to sign up.

Other Golf Groups at Eagle Crest Resort:

Opportunities exist for playing organized golf in addition to the ECMGC for those living in or visiting Central Oregon. Some of these include:

The High Desert Seniors includes golfers from several golf courses around Central Oregon including Eagle Crest. For more details contact ECMGC's High Desert Seniors representative, Greg Middlebrook. Click here to view the 2024 High Desert Seniors tournament schedule.

The West Ridge Men's Golf group plays on Tuesdays at most courses in the area (including courses like Broken Top, Awbry Glen, Bend Country Club). Because they typically bring a large group to these venues, members get a nice price break on green fees. Contact Roy Altman for details.

The B&S Golf League (aka Beer & Sandwich group) plays Mondays on the Resort Course fielding up to 24 golfers with tee times starting around 10 AM. The league gets its name from its higher stakes / fewer winners theme if you play well, you may win enough to buy a large beer and nice sandwich at the snack bar possibly beers for your friends too . Contact Mark Haskin for details.

The On the Tees golf group is composed of about a dozen golfers who play on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Contact Kent Brown for details.

The GG Portal - Navigating this Website:

As described above, the ECMGC uses Golf Genius (GG) to setup and run tournaments. GG also maintains results for all past rounds from past seasons and collects statistics for players such as # birdies, pars, bogeys as well as total winnings and any incentive points earned while playing regular men's day rounds or in its special events. This information as well as a means for signing up or cancelling a sign-up for rounds can be accessed by members with an account (login name and password) by clicking on the Portal menu link. Instructions for navigating the Portal are listed on its home page. To create an account on our GG Portal, contact Eric Erickson.
