RESORT CUP

Eagle Crest Men’s Golf Club participates each summer in event called the Resort*Cup. This event has four golf resorts that participate, Black Butte, Widgi Creek, Sunriver and Eagle Crest. We play four times each year with each course hosting once. A trophy is awarded at the end of the year for the overall winner.
Scoring is Stableford scoring, throwing out the worst score in each flight. Scores are cumulative and carried forward throughout the summer. Tees are decided by the hosting course but are basically A flight (blue) and B flight (white). The entry fee is $60 which includes green/cart fees and prize money. Prize money is paid out in pro shop credit at the host course.
Our Team will consist of five golfers with a handicap less than 13 and five golfers with a handicap 13 or higher, backup players, and our playing pro. A sign-up sheet will be provided early summer. The golf pro and two BOD members and those responsible for the Resort Cup events will determine the traveling team and back-up players. The determination will be made by review of prior finishes in the Club Championship, Match Play, and Fall Classic. The committee will also review current posting trends. If possible, we may provide some golf pro training which may include playing together at the host course before the actual event.

Quote from Team Captain Greg Middlebrook: "Congratulations to all of you - special honors go to Roger Edgerly and Eric Erickson whose 37 and 36 points respectively, earned 2nd ($30) and 3rd ($20) places in B-flight. But it was a true team effort. The Widgi Creek course affords a greater home course advantage than the other resort courses, in my humble opinion. That held true again yesterday. Nonetheless we were able to maintain our slim lead with only the match with Sunriver remaining. The current standings are:

Greg Middlebrook's remarks after the round: "we are now in possession of the Resort Cup trophy. A very impressive trophy which we will display, for the next year, in our trophy case. Next year we will defend the trophy and hopefully we will keep it for at least another year. The trophy plate shows that the Resort Cup competition started in 2005. Since then it has been won by Widgi Creek 11 times, 5 times by BBR and 1 time by Sunriver. Finally we get our due recognition."
