Pace of Play is Important
- Keep up with the group in front of you. It doesnβt matter what is happening behind you.
- Write your groups scores on the scorecard at the next tee not beside the green where you just finished putting.
- Keep your carts in position.Β You should not have to walk backwards to get your cart, unless it is just one of those pesky holes like the 9th at Ridge.
- Donβt wait in the cart for your partner. Drop them off with a couple of clubs then go to your ball and get ready to hit.
- 3 minutes maximum to look for a lost ball.
- If you suspect your ball may be OB or lost, to speed play, you should declare and play a provisional ball.
If you hit any shot out of bounds or the ball is lost the club rule is to take a stroke and distance penalty. Obviously going back to hit another ball slows the round down.
If you fail to notify the scorer (or playing partners) of your intention to play a provisional ball and then hit a 2nd shot you have effectively taken a stroke and distance penalty and your original ball is now considered out of play (even if the original ball is found inbounds).
Your provisional ball is deemed to incur the stroke and distance penalty only if the original ball is indeed OB or cannot be found within a 3 minute search. If you find your original ball, in bounds and within 3 minutes of searching, you must abandon your provisional ball and play your first ball hitting your next shot from where it lies without penalty. - If you are no longer in a hole and decide to pick up your ball, you must record the score that you would have expected had you finished out the hole. This should be validated by your playing partners. It is not accurate to indicate that βthe most I can take on this hole is a 7.β If you realistically would have scored a 9, thatβs what you record. Golf Genius will make the appropriate adjustments for index purposes. However, the 9 will be used as your score for the purposes of our game.
- If you start to fall behind the group in front of you, go to the next tee and hit while the other members of your group finish putting.
- Putt out all putts β No Gimmies.
