EAGLE CREST LOCAL RULES…3/1/2021

 

The USGA Rules of Golf will Govern all play except as modified by the following Local Rules:

 

1.       Power Lines:  A ball striking and overhead power line must be replayed in accordance with Rule 14.6: no penalty.

2.       Yardage Markers: Yardage markers (removable poles excepted) are considered Immovable Obstructions (Relief is allowed in accordance with Rule 16.1).

Note:  Interference with the line of play is not considered interference

3.       Stones in Bunkers:  Stones in bunkers are Loose Impediments (Rule 15.1a applies).

4.      Course Aeration: Through the general area of the course, a ball that comes to rest on or on an aeration hole may be lifted without penalty, cleaned, and dropped as near as possible to the spot where it lay but not nearer the hole.  On the putting green, a ball that comes to rest in or on an aeration hole may be placed at the nearest spot not nearer the hole that avoids the situation. (Rule 16.1b, 16.1d)

5.      Dung: Bird or animal dung is considered ground under repair.  Through the general area of the course, if a ball lies in or touches the dung or it interferes with the player’s area of intended swing, relief may be taken under Rule16.1 (ball dropped within one club-length of the nearest point of relief, not nearer the hole).  If the ball lies on the putting green, the player may lift and place it at the nearest point of relief (no club-length area permitted).  The ball may be cleaned when lifted.

6.      Out of Bounds: If a ball is out of bounds the player shall play a ball, under penalty of one stroke, as nearly as possible at the spot from which the original ball was last played.  A ball is out of bounds when all of it lies out of bounds.  Out of bounds stakes are on nearly every hole.  The stake colors are all white. Note:  Some homeowners have placed signs on their property stating “out of bounds, free drop” These signs are to be ignored during tournament play.  No play is allowed from homeowner-maintained property.  The inside edge of all paved roadways, including public roads. are out of bounds. (Rule 18.1, 18.2)

7.      Provisional Ball:  A player should play a provisional ball for any shot that may be lost or out of bounds.  The player must inform their marker or fellow competitor that they intend to play a provisional ball and must play it before they go forward to search for the original ball.
