Player of the Year Award

The following are the rules for the Eagle Crest Men’s Golf Club (ECMGC) annual Niblicks Cup player of the year award. This award is given out annually to the Eagle Crest Men’s Golf Club (ECMGC) member who has gained the most points playing in various ECMGC events throughout the year. Points will be awarded at each ECMGC event starting March 4th, 2026 and finishing October 8th, 2026.

Points for this award will be awarded for the following six categories of events. Each member of a team will be awarded the defined number of points. For example, the 2 partners who win the Grand Championship title in the Fall Classic event will both win 300 points and the 100-point bonus.

1. Standard Wednesday Events (100 Points maximum per flight)

For this category, each player will receive points based on how they finished within their flight during the event. In all team events, all team members will be awarded the same number of points. The USGA tiebreaker will be used to determine the event’s final standings.  The following table will be used to award points.

1st -100 points 4th – 70 points 7th – 40 points

2nd – 90 points 5th – 60 points 8th – 30 points

3rd – 80 points 6th – 50 points 9th – 20 points

All players finishing 10th place or greater will be awarded 10 points.

This year, simple single match play events have been added to our Wednesday rotation. For this format the winner of the match will be awarded 100 points and the loser will be awarded 30 points.

2. ECMGC Club Championship (400 Points maximum per flight. 100 point bonus for Gross/Net Champions.)

The awarding of points for this category will be the same as above with different award values as follows.

1st -400 points 4th – 280 points 7th – 160 points

2nd – 360 points 5th – 240 points 8th – 120 points

3rd – 320 points 6th – 200 points 9th – 80 points

All players finishing 10th place or greater will be awarded 40 points. A bonus of 100-points will also awarded to both the Gross and Net Club Championship winners.

3. Eagle Crest Cup (300 Points maximum. 50 points bonus awarded to all winning team members)

For the Eagle Crest Cup event held every spring the club splits the players into two teams and then holds three matches awarding match play points to each of the two teams in a Ryder cup fashion. Each player could win up to 3 points for their respective teams.  For the Eagle Crest point championship, points will be awarded based on the following table.

3 Match points = 300 points

2.5 Match Points = 260 points

2 Match points = 220 points

1.5 Match points = 180 points

1 Match points = 140 points

.5 Match points = 100 points

0 Match points = 60 points

A 50-point bonus will be awarded to each player of the winning team.

4. Fall Classic (300 points maximum per flight. 100-point bonus to Grand Champions)

For the Eagle Crest Fall Classic, points will be awarded based on flight standings at the end of the three-day event as follows.

1st -300 points 4th – 210 points 7th – 120 points

2nd – 270 points 5th – 180 points 8th – 90 points

3rd – 240 points 6th – 150 points 9th – 60 points

All players finishing 10th place or greater will be awarded 30 points. A bonus of 100-points will also be awarded to both Grand Champions.

5. Match Play Championship (300 points maximum. 100-point bonus to Overall winner)

For the Eagle Crest Match Play event, points will be awarded based on flight standings at the end of the event as follows.

1st – 300 points 4th – 210 points 7th – 120 points

2nd – 270 points 5th – 180 points 8th – 90 points

3rd – 240 points 6th – 150 points 9th – 60 points

All players finishing 10th place or greater will be awarded 30 points. A bonus of 100 points will also be awarded to the overall championship.

6. Home and Home competitions (150 point maximum. 25 points if the Eagle Crest team wins the day’s event.)

For each of the Home and Home competitions during the year, a maximum of 150 points will be awarded based on the following table.

3 Match points = 150 points

2.5 Match Points = 130 points

2 Match points = 110 points

1.5 Match points = 90 points

1 Match points = 70 points

.5 Match points = 50 points

0 Match points = 30 points

A bonus of 25 points will be awarded to all ECMGC players if our club wins the day’s event.

Overflow members participate in a separate event with customary point distribution. If our club wins the day’s event all members playing that day will receive a bonus of 25 points.

The ECMGC board reserves the right to adjust point allocations if event formats change.
